Proofreading Software [Translation/Writing]
Communicating with a programmer on and on in U.K., I could have finally run this “Proofreading Software” in my 64-bit computer. It has been almost three years since my first inquiry. Around that time, I engaged in English writing. I was anxious about the checking software built-in the word processor so that I made it a point to send for this software.
After installing, however, I found it does not work on my 64-bit computer I had newly bought. When I thought I have to refund it, they mailed me that they were planning to make a 64-bit upgrade version. So I decided to wait for it. Nevertheless I doubted it is because there is no competitor for them in this area, I was forced to adjust myself to their incredible slow pace, and waited and waited, but they did not well advance the developing. So, I have came up to here for three years without using it, even once, till today.
Meanwhile, I have done the self-check with the normally-bundled proofreading software. A volume of writing gave me a kind of confidence such as “OK, if it came over” - It might not be good -, except the handling of delicate problem of article. So I finally thought I would not need it. Just after it, I got the 64-bit version. It was really ironic.
It is beneficial to adjust styles after statically analyzing “Sentence Length”, “Readability” and “Terminology”. It is, however, doubtful to use it for the business practice, because the operability is troublesome. Also, it might be useful to fill up the lack of experience from a mechanical standpoint. However it might be wrong if we could completely write a good sentence by using it. Just now, I tried to check sentences that I wrote, but I got mixed feelings as if it checked my aspiration that I had three years ago. I felt beaten because I realized again that the way of proficiency is to imitate a good one. I wish I could use it, to the extent that I was negatively used by the tool.

英国のプログラマーと果てしなくやりとりをして本日やっと、私の64ビットPCでこの「英文校正ソフト」が動きました。最初に問い合わせをしてから3年の月日がたっています。当時、英文を書く仕事をしていて、ワードプロセッサ標準搭載ソフトでは不安で、海外からわざわざ取り寄せたものです。
しかし日本に届いてインストールしたところ、新しく購入した私の64ビットのPCでは、動かないということが分かりました。なので返品しようとしたら、今64ビット用のアップグレード版を作成中とのこと。しばらく待つことにしました。他にこの種の競合製品がないためでしょうか、彼らの信じがたいのんびりペースにはまってしまい、待てど暮らせど、開発は進まず。結局3年待たされ一回も使用せず今日まで。
その間、英文を書くときは、標準添付の校正ソフトと自己チェックで済ましました。量をこなして微妙な冠詞の使い分け以外は、通じりゃいいやという、（余りいいとは言えない）、妙な自信までつけてしまい、もはやいらないのではと思ったいました。そうした矢先に64ビット版が届いてしまいました。まったく皮肉です。
文章を統計分析して、「文長」や「読みやすさ」「表記用語」見て、スタイルを整えるのには利用できるでしょう。しかし操作が煩雑で実務に使えるかどうか。経験不足を、メカニックな視点で補完するには使えるかもしれません。しかしこれでいい文章が書けるなどと思うのはちょっと筋違かも。先ほど、自分が書いた文章を試しに校正させてみましたが、3年前の自分の野心をチャックされているみたいでちょっと複雑。上達の基本は良いものをまねることと、また打ちのめされてしまいました。道具に使われない程度に用いられればと思います。
