New Understading of Japanese Myth - Great Kojiki Exhibition in Nara

Books which are decrypting the Japanese myth are now catching the attention of Japanese people.The myth, called as “Kojiiki”, written in 1300 ago, talks about the origin and the sequence of events of Emperor's family. After WWII, the present constitution secures the freedom of thought and creed. 日本の神話を記述した本が注目を集めています。「古事記」といって1300年前に日本の天皇家の先祖やその成り立ちの経緯について綴られたものです。第二次大戦以降は思想信条の自由が保障されたり、戦前の天皇中心の史観と戦争との結びつきの反省から長らく敬遠される傾向にありました。

しかしながら発刊から1300年たった今日、その人間的なドラマの部分に再び脚光があてられ、しづかなブームになっています。マンガの解説書が出されたり、英訳もなされたり、また地方活性化に用いようという動きもあります。原本は日本人でも難解ですが、様々な方の努力で手の届くものとなってきました。

グローバル化が進み、情報伝達機器が発達して現代日本人でもなじみが無い人も多いのですが、もとは文字ではなく、この土地で人から人へ語り継がれたものを、文章として記録に残したものです。この国の文化の起源を知る上で、良い示唆を与えてくれるものです。ありがたいものです。（いつもご覧いただき誠にありがとうございます。）
