God of Fire Prevention - Mt. Atago [Outing]
I climbed up Mt. Atago in Kyoto - at a height of 924 m above sea level – with the member of the OB association of the mountaineering club.This mountain is located in north-west part of Kyoto city, and one of the three-hundred famous mountains in Japan. This has been a religious mountain since a long time ago. At the top of mountain, “God of fire prevention” is enshrined in the head shrine of Atago Shrines. There are about thousand shrines named “Atago” in forty-three prefectural and city governments in Japan. It was a light rain on the mountain today. However, this mountain is higher than Mt. Hiei - at a height of 848 m above sea level. So, if it is fine, we could enjoy viewing through all over Kyoto city till Mt. Higashiyama.
The nature of Mt. Atago is so beautiful, and “Mizuo Village” at the foot of this mountain is called as a hidden village of the west Kyoto, opposite to the east Kyoto spot of “Oh-hara”. Also the village is known for “Citron Village”. Here is a good out-of-the-way place so that I recommend to visit in the season of ctron-havesting autumn

＜火伏せの神様 - 愛宕山＞
登山のクラブのOB会で、京都の愛宕山（標高 924m）へ登ってきました。日本300名山に数えられている京都の洛西にある古くからの信仰の山。頂上には竈の神様（火伏せの神）を祀ることで有名な愛宕神社の総本山がある。日本全国だと「愛宕」を社名につける神社は43都道府県に約1000社あるとのこと。今日は山の天気は小雨だったが、この山は比叡山（848m）よりも標高が高く、晴れた日には、京都の町を通り越して東山まで一望できるとのこと。
この愛宕山は自然も美しく、 麓の「水尾」は東の大原に対し洛西の隠れ里と言われ、柚子の里として知られています。柚が香ばしい収穫時の秋の穴場スポットです。

At the C6 bus stop of the north exit of JR Kyoto station, we get on the bus till the last stop of “Kiyotaki”, and got started to climb up.

We felt a late autumn flavor.

The vertical drop is 800 m. It takes two hours and a half to climb up.

I made a wish of a sure job finding for God.

The climb down from the top was so steep, and I was so short of exercise that I did a bit damage to the knee. The tree was heavy with citrons.

The good-citron-flavor bath was prepared. We went have a nice long soak and relieveｄ our tired bodies.

The banquet eating a local chicken hot pot gave us a blissful moment.

京都北口よりC6番より市バス乗車、終点の「清滝」を下車。いざ出発。

下山は水尾（柚子の里へ）下りは結構急で、ブランクがあるせいか、膝を多少傷める。

柚子の香りたっぷりの柚子風呂が用意されていました。汗を流し、疲れをほぐす。
